Through emails sent to her best-friend Julie, the smooth-talking David Marshall and the enigmatic Scott Cooper (to mention but a few) we are taken on an frenetic, funny and uplifting journey that charts her daily challenges both inside and outside the office.
Just like the title, this book is an email conversation Allie Rainsbury has with her friends over the course of a year. Allie is our single 30 something year old who works within the marketing department and Julie her married best friend works in HR. We follow their email conversation through the highs and lows of Allies love life and her family life with interaction from her male best friend, family and friends she makes along the way.
It is a very down to earth read and very similar to conversation that I have previously had with work friends and the like. The scene is well set of any office environment with communications taking place through sneaky emails. It is laugh out loud funny in parts and moving in others. Sometimes I even found myself willing our heroine on to wake up and smell the roses.
I really enjoyed Emailing Allie and have recommended to lots of friends and family, it is definitely worth a read, the only problem I found with it, was that I didn’t want to put it down. Just how long we will have to wait for the next instalment I don’t know, but I do hope that it is soon.
