Books Read: Lisa Dickenson - The Twelve Dates of Christmas: Dates 1&2

Claudia is a girl in a rut. At 30, her life is stale and the romance in her relationship with long-term boyfriend, Seth, has disappeared. Determined to inject some Christmas spark back into their life, Claudia and Seth go on their first date in a very long time to the Royal Opera House. But when the night ends in disaster, Claudia suddenly finds herself facing life alone.

Life alone is exciting, scary and full of soon-forgotten exercise regimes and ill-advised DIY attempts at making sexy underwear. It's also full of men. Thank goodness for best friends Penny and Nick, otherwise Claudia would have no clue what to do about all these new choices. One thing's for certain, though: this year, Christmas is going to be very different...

Claudia and Seth are in a rut after 5 years together but the last thing Claudia expects after going on their first proper date night in ages is to end up going home alone and single.  But fortunately her good friends Penny and Nick are on hand to help pick up the pieces and show her that there is life after Seth even if she doesn't think so...

It's hard to believe that The Twelve Dates of Christmas is Lisa Dickenson's debut book as the storyline flowed from the very first line.  It was a fun read full of wit and comedic moments that will have you chuckling away as you read... reading about the journey home on the tube had me in stitches at the poor expense of Claudia.

I've been looking forward to reading this series ever since I started hearing about it on Twitter earlier this year as I liked the concept of the weekly installments.  However, having now finished reading the first one I might have to change my opinion on installments as I'm impatient to read the others now to see what happens next!  Roll on next Monday when my pre-order for Dates 3&4 will download.
