My top 5 books read this summer by Kevin

My final guest for this feature week is the lovely Kevin from I Heart Chicklit who has picked his top 5 books for this summer.

5. Killer Queens by Rebecca Chance

Lori is a beautiful, blonde, all-American athlete. When the charismatic ruler of a small, filthy rich European state asks for her hand, she thinks she's snagged Prince Charming. But she soon realizes that all that glitters is not gold...

Belinda was once the most recognized and loved princess in the world. Forced to stage her own death, she lives incognito abroad with her adoring royal lover. Now, she is determined to return to England to see her son Hugo wed, even if it means risking her own life.

Chloe, Prince Hugo's fiancée, is the archetypical English rose. But it's a long road to becoming a princess, even when you're dating the heir to the throne. Perhaps the fairy-tale ending isn't all it was cracked up to be...

Rebecca Chance is back with another stunning book which will make you wish you were one of the characters! From the gorgeous, scenic mountaintop castles to the dazzling Mexican seaside. Killer Queens will definitely prepare you for what summer has to offer!

4. Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger

Almost a decade has passed since Andy Sachs quit the job “a million girls would die for” working for Miranda Priestly at Runway magazine—a dream that turned out to be a nightmare. Andy and Emily, her former nemesis and co-assistant, have since joined forces to start a highend bridal magazine. The Plunge has quickly become required reading for the young and stylish. Now they get to call all the shots: Andy writes and travels to her heart’s content; Emily plans parties and secures advertising like a seasoned pro.

Even better, Andy has met the love of her life. Max Harrison, scion of a storied media family, is confident, successful, and drop-dead gorgeous. Their wedding will be splashed across all the society pages as their friends and family gather to toast the glowing couple. Andy Sachs is on top of the world.

But karma’s a bitch. The morning of her wedding, Andy can’t shake the past. And when she discovers a secret letter with crushing implications, her wedding-day jitters turn to cold dread. Andy realizes that nothing—not her husband, nor her beloved career—is as it seems. She never suspected that her efforts to build a bright new life would lead her back to the darkness she barely escaped ten years ago—and directly into the path of the devil herself...

I loved The Devil Wears Prada very much, the book and the film. The hotly anticipated sequel was definitely one of my favourites this year, no doubt. The chance to find what happened after the widely loved book, catching up with Miranda Priestly and seeing Andy succeed in the publishing world was ace!

3. The Longest Holiday by Paige Toon

'Don't wait for the storm to pass; learn to dance in the rain…'

Laura has been married to the man of her dreams for seven months. But a week before the wedding, Matthew made a terrible mistake.

Escaping the humiliation that is now her marriage, Laura is whisked off to Florida's Key West by her best friend Marty. A carefree holiday full of cocktails and fun, surrounded by gorgeous, tanned men, is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Distraction comes in the form of sexy Cuban scuba diver Leo. Laura's instant attraction to him knocks her flying, and she falls hard.

As the end of the holiday approaches, Laura doesn't want to go home. Is it time to face the music? Or is there more to Key West than a holiday romance?

One of my most anticipated books this summer has to be Paige Toon's The Longest Holiday where the heroine, Laura spends her holiday in Key West, Florida! What's not to love? Hot men, beautiful beach and yummy food!

2. Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella

Lottie is tired of long-term boyfriends who don't want to commit to marriage. When her old boyfriend Ben reappears and reminds her of their pact to get married if they were both still single at thirty, she jumps at the chance.

There will be no dates and no engagement—just a straight wedding march to the altar! Next comes the honeymoon on the Greek island where they first met. But not everyone is thrilled with Lottie and Ben's rushed marriage, and family and friends are determined to intervene.

Will Lottie and Ben have a Wedding Night to remember … or one to forget?

I am a massive reader of Sophie Kinsella's books - ever since I read her first, I'm in love with this woman! In Wedding Night, you'll fall in love with the gorgeous Greek islands and sweet romance! Perfect for summer, if you ask me!

1. About A Girl by Lindsey Kelk

Tess Brookes has always been a Girl with a Plan. But when the Plan goes belly up, she’s forced to reconsider.

After accidentally answering her flatmate Vanessa’s phone, she decides that since being Tess isn’t going so well, she might try being Vanessa. With nothing left to lose, she accepts Vanessa’s photography assignment to Hawaii – she used to be an amateur snapper, how hard can it be? Right?

But Tess is soon in big trouble. And the gorgeous journalist on the shoot with her, who is making it very clear he’d like to get into her pants, is an egotistical monster. Far from home and in someone else’s shoes, Tess must decide whether to fight on through, or ‘fess up and run…

Whoop! My number 1 book to read this summer is... ABOUT A GIRL by my darling twinsie, Lindsey Kelk. I adore the I Heart series and in this new series, we're introduced to Tess Brookes - incredibly funny, adorable and a genuine sweetheart and of course, my new book boyfriend, Nick! Set in the glorious Hawaiian islands, I was so blown away by its beauty! Go. Buy. It. End of.
